This month, organizations such as Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) and other prominent private and governmental bodies will collaborate to provide free clinical breast examinations and mammogram screenings around the UAE.
During the month of October, women who are at least 40 years old will have the option to get free screenings, free mammogram screenings, and consultations with medical professionals as part of a program called Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM).
MSD, Pfizer, Adnoc, and Amit Group are among the organizations that have joined forces with the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) to launch this campaign.
Breast cancer is the most frequent form of the disease worldwide, as well as in the UAE today “according to Ashraf Mallak, who is the managing director of MSD for the GCC.
“We have made investments in oncology research in the past and will continue to do so in the future. Additionally, we have created an immuno-oncology medication that has the potential to be fundamental in the treatment of breast cancer. We have an extensive program that includes more than 1,300 clinical studies that are now being conducted to explore more than 30 different kinds of tumors.
“With hours of free screenings and check-ups planned for multiple locations across the nation, we are as ready as we will ever be to deliver a successful Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” said Sawsan Jafar, chairman of the FOCP. “We are as ready as we will ever be to deliver a successful Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
A total of 2,197 clinical breast exams, 1,019 mammograms, and 208 ultrasound tests were provided as part of our Pink Caravan campaign over the previous year. These services were provided free of charge.
